Lived in Duxbury but Dartmouth most of life. Homestead on No side of road leading from New Bedford to Russels Mills, on west bank of brook that crosses this road, few hundred yards from Slocum rd. Ruins discernable in 1885.
He was a remarkable man of his day, and in political life. Although listed as a farmer he was a very wealthy man, and a seletman starting in 1699 for several years. The was moderator of town meetings in 1721, tithing man in 1726, a Minister of the Society and Minister of the Town. His will showed 1790 pounds, 1/6 of a Sawmill, much cattle, and a homestead of 560 pounds. These were very large amounts in those days.
