==Biography of Nancy Melda Treadaway

Mrs. Nancy T. Smith, 91 of Fultondale, passed away May 31, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (GiGi). Nancy was a member of the Gardendale Church of God. A retired member of A.E.A,she taught at elementary education for 37 years 18 of which were Snow Rogers Elementry. She retired in 1981 to travel with her husband and enjoy her grandson. She was an avid seamstress and gardener, enjoyed arts and crafts, and always enjoyed hosting gatherings of family and friends in her home always doing more than needed.

Nancy was raised on a farm during the depression where she learned the values that carried her throughout her life during which she saved everything.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Smith. The last of her siblings to pass into heaven, she is also preceded in death by her brothers John (Geneva) Treadaway and Fred (Goldie) Treadaway, and her baby sister Francis (Dr. French L.) Arrington.

Nancy is survived by her daughter Denise (Jerry) Nix; grandson Justin (Crystal) Nix; and great-grandson Colin Nix. She will be greatly missed but is in a better place. We will see you again.

Services were held at Gardendale Funeral Home on Saturday, June 2. Internment took place at 1 PM at Highway Church of God Cemetery in Fyffe, Alabama. Reverend Wayne Turley and Dr. French L. Arrington officiating.
