1 Mar 1997: Per data rec'd by Charles Reed from Thomas W Jones in his letter dated 20 May 1996: Daniel McCarty was Hannah's 2nd husband. He was a son of Daniel McCarty & Agnes of Lincoln Co NC & Richmond Co Ga. Daniel came to Ga as early as 1776 as he held 400 acres in Wrightborough Township that year. In 1785 he was granted land in Wilkes Co Ga which he & Hannah sold on 4 June 1791 to Martin Crews. On the same date he conveyed 2 slaves to his oldest son Cornelius & another to his daughter Nancy. On 11 July 1792 Daniel McCarty of Wilkes Co sold 100 acres onGreenbriar Creek in Columbia Co to John Wright. This was part of a tact granted to McCarty 10 Nov 1772 (Columbia Co Deed Book C, pg 190). Hannah McCarty was appointed administratrix of Daniel McCarty in Oglethorpe Co Ga 4 July 1794; Johnson Clark & George Wright were seconds. Hanna drew 2 blanks in the 1805 land lottery. Her will dated 14 Dec 1804 was proved in Clarke Co Ga 16 June 1808. Her children were: James Wright married Mary Ray; William Wright married Mary, his will dated 1 May 1821 Clarke Co Ga; John Wright married 2nd Alcea Langston; Sarah Wright married Johnston Clark; George Wright married Sarah Bridges; Hannah Wright or McCarty married Mr Walker per her mother's will; Nancy McCarty married Mr Stokes; Cornelius McCarty of Jackson Co Ga drew 2 blanks in 1805 land lottery. Nancy McCarty married 1791-1804 to Mr Stokes. Possibly he was Richard B Stokes who is mentioned in Jackson Co Deed Book H, page 39, along with "Ealsey Rite".
