NANCY SHEPHERD, 95, Former Resident, Dies

Mrs. Nancy Lucinda Shepherd, 95, Tekoa and former Wenatchee resident, died at the home of her son-in-law in Tekoa, Wednesday following a brief illness.

Mrs. Shepherd was born in Alabama September 2, 1854, and resided there until the Civil war when her family sold their plantation and moved to Tennessee where she was married to Asie F. Shepherd. They resided near Neosho, Missouri until 1900 when they came to Wenatchee. Mrs. Shepherd moved in 1940 to Tekoa to make her home with her daughter. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are one son, J. R. Shepherd of Cashmere; six daughters Mrs. Jennie Holmes of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Hattie Reasor of Portland, Mrs. Pearl Stevenson of Wenatchee, Mrs. Ida Warwick of Tekoa, Mrs. Lucille Sonne [Sonney] of Orondo and Mrs. Bertha Birk of Tekoa; one sister Lucy Covington of Memphis, Tenn; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1933.

Funeral services will be held from the Jones and Jones chapel Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. David W. Nutting officiating. Don Isenhart will sing, accompanied by Carolyn Sterling at the organ.

The following will serve as casket bearers: Clyde Trapp, Earl Chander, Joe Bowes, Albert Bowes, William Dixon and Walter Thorbrue. Concluding services and burial will be in the Evergreen memorial park.
