Myrna Rosalie Hogue, a lifelong resident of Weed, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Shasta View Care Center in Weed, surrounded by her son, Patrick (daughter-in-law Laurie); daughter, Suzanne; and her grandchildren, Megan and David. Myrna is also survived by her grandson, Andrew and his wife, Jordan, both in the US Navy; and her granddaughter, Alexia.
Myrna was born in Weed on June 22, 1928, to William and Pearl Riley. Myrna was the youngest of 11 children and was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her beloved husband, Lawrence “Larry” Hogue, whom she was married to for 49 years.
Myrna attended dental nursing school in San Francisco and returned to Weed, where she met and married Larry on June 27, 1956. After working in the local factory for many years, Myrna became a homemaker and was active in all of Patrick and Suzanne’s school years as a room mother. She also made homemade chili for the concession stand at the Weed High School home football games.
Myrna loved to read and do embroidery and enjoyed taking trips to the coast.
Along with her children and grandchildren, Myrna is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside service at the Winema Cemetery in Weed. A reception will be held afterward at the announcement of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Winema Cemetery Fund
