- The Hogencamp line migrated into western Kentucky. The line descends from Meyndert Hogenkamp of Holland. This Martynes (or Martin) Hogencamp left NY around 1820 with his wife Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Boone. They settled first in Neville, OH and then just across the river in Campbell Co. KY. In the mid-1830s, they decided to move further west (downriver) and loaded everything (children & all belongings) onto a raft. Before they had gone far, Martin became ill and went ashore at Cincinnati, where he died. His wife Polly continued downriver with their children and ultimately settled just below the point where the Ohio flows into the Mississippi River. The nearest town of any significance is today's Bardwell, KY. Martin & Polly's daughter Moriah Hogencamp, married William R. Reeves in 1840.
