The only record I can find of Miriam's birth is a little red book that Aunt Helen has. It is a Farmer's Pocket Atlas compliments of Bradley Fertilizer Works, Buffalo, NY, presented by JA Lawrence, Agt. Conneautville, PA. The inside cover has a 1904 calendar. The first page is the record of Miriam's birth and continues through May 11 when she was taken to the doctor for a rash on her face. The book ends in OCT 1912 when Miriam goes to Erie to live with her mother.

1910 Federal Census, PA - Miriam was raised for the first 7 years by Frank and Lucy POTTER. The 1910 census spells the name "PATTER". He is 71 and she is 65. They have been married for 36 years, both born in PA. They live in the township of Conneaut, county of Crawford, PA. They both speak English and he is a farmer owning his land; they both can read and write. Miriam is spelled "Margorete" with parents born in PA. She is 6 at the time of the census.

According to documents in Helen Pearl TARRANT Atwill's possession, Miriam attended Linesville-Conneaut Summit Joint Schools in the 2nd grade. She attended Maury High School, in Norfolk, VA. Her marriage to Olie, while family tradition reports it as an elopement, it was followed by a ceremony in Norfolk, VA at the insistence of Iza. The ceremony took place 23 MAR 1920 at 7:30 PM at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Perry J. Looney of 32nd Street. The minister was Charles M. Watson. Helen possesses a wedding booklet that includes a newspaper clipping.
