Minnie Thiemann was born in Nebraska in 1900, the youngest of ten children in her family. She married Alvin Hitzeman in 1920 and became a farmer's wife. Minnie had three sons and two daughters, moving with her family to California when the Nebraska farm failed. She lived in Modesto, California from World War II to the end of her life.
