Minnie Kempson was born in 1885 at Luton in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw hat sewer named Sarah Ann Kempson, formerly Smith, and her husband James Kempson, a plait bleacher and bricklayer.

Minnie appears in the 1891 census with her mother and siblings living at 48 Chobham Street in Luton. Her father was not at home on census night, being in St Albans jail (he was convicted several times for poaching).

Minnie died aged only 11 years old in 1896.
