Educator and school administrator Milton A. Pattison, 87, of 17 Coates Ave., died in Jameson Hospital the morning of May 3, 1999.

Born in Union Twonship on April 12, 1912, he was the son of John D. and Katheryn E. Lightner Pattison.

He married the former Marianne Mellinger on Nov. 24, 1937. She survives.

Mr. Pattison retired in 1976 as assistant executive director of the Nidwestern Intermediate Unit IV in Grove City. He was a graduate of Geneva College and later received a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

He began his teaching career in Union Area High School, where he later served as principal and supervising principal. In addition, he later became supervising principal of the East Lawrence Joint School District and the Mahoning Township school district.

In 1958, he became assistant superintendedt of Lawrence County Schools and in 1971, he became assistant executive director of the Intermediate Unit in Grove City.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a teacher of the young people's class.

Mr. Pattison was a member emeritus of the American Association of Retirees, State and National Associations of Sceondary Schoold Principals, as well as the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators.

In addition to his wife, surviviors include a daughter, Beverly Tumpa, of Wexford; a brother, C. A. Pattison of Venice, Fla., three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Milton A Pattison, Jr., in 1951; and a brother, Dr. John Pattison in 1992.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Inc, 2429 WIlmington Road. A service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald McGinnis, pastor of First Presbyterain Church. Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be mad to the endowment fund of First Presbyterian Church, corner of Falls and Jefferson streets, New Castle 16101.
