    Mass of Christian burial for Mildred L. Ness, 90, Sandstone, was held Friday, July 28, 2000, 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone with Father Al Henger officiating. Music was provided by organist Nancy Bennett and soloist Don Hogquist. Pallbearers were Fred Sawatzky, Mark Sawatzky, Tony Ness, Jim Ness, John Jensen and Greg Ingemansen. Honorary pallbearers were Mildred's grandchildren. Interment was at Spring Park Cemetery, Sandstone. Arrangements by Methven Funeral Home, Sandstone.

    Mildred L. Ness was born March 14, 1910 in Clontarf, Minnesota to Peter and Mary (Thomas) Watrin. On Nov. 4, 1930 she married James Ness at St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Sandstone, where they lived for the majority of their life. Mildred was one of the original members of the Grindstone Lake Sewing Circle. She loved to travel and collect salt and pepper shakers from the numerous places she visited. She was a member of the former St. Willibrord's Catholic Church and the present St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sandstone. She made over 2,000 rosaries for missions and also for relatives and friends. Mildred was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchidlren, and great great grandchildren. She passed away on Monday, July 24, 2000 at the Pine Health Care Center in Sandstone at the age of 90 years.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1974; her parents; her daughter, Agnes Sawatzky; four brothers and five sisters. Mildred is survived by her son, Edward (Bev) Ness of Nashville, TN. daughters Alice (Dean) Jensen of Woodward, Oklahaom, Ann (Marvin) Ingemansen of Minneapolis; son-in-law, Fred Sawatzky of Mora; 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren; 21 great great grandchidren; sisters-in-law Mary Watrin and Agnes Watrin and many nieces and nephews.
