Mildred Gale (1671–1701), born Mildred Warner in the Colony of Virginia, was the paternal grandmother of former president George Washington.

She married fairly young Lawrence Washington; their son Augustine was the father of President George Washington.

In 1700, she married George Gale, a prominent merchant who helped forge trade links between Whitehaven, Great Britain and Virginia. She settled in Whitehaven and fell pregnant. However, she contracted a fever and made her will before the baptism of her child. She was buried in the grounds of St. Nicholas' Church in Whitehaven.

It is not known whether her marriage to George Gale took place in Virginia, Maryland or England, but as the indenture of marriage was executed by her cousin by marriage John Washington, executor of his cousin Lawrence's will, George Gale was probably visiting in Virginia and married the widow there and took her to England where she arrived before Nov. 1700 bringing her three children to be educated in England. Their first child, Mildred Galed, was bpt. at St. Nicholas Parish, parish of Whitehaven Jan. 25, 1700 was buried there Mar. 26, 1701. The mother Mildred Washington Gale died in childbirth and was buried in the yard of the Church of St. Nicholas on Jan. 30, 1701. Her grandsons Lawrence and Augustine, were educated at the Appleby Grammar School near Whitehaven.

Mildred Warner was a descendant of Edward III of England.
