| N1. | Merle was known to everyone as Cork. He worked as a logger in the Allegany area on Coos River until he could no longer do that kind of work due to a back injury. He spent the rest of his working life driving long haul trucks and working on tug boats that hauled log rafts up and down the Pacific Coast and sometimes to Hawaii. Gladys and Merle were divorced around 1969 and later remarried in Reno, NV.
