Killaloe loses leading citizenS2
Killaloe was saddened by the death of one of its leading citizens last week as Melville (Mac) Kuehl, age 63, died in the Ottawa Civic Hospital last Friday. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Calvary Baptist Church in Killaloe.

During his lifetime, Mr. Kuehl was involved in many civic organizations in Killaloe and beyond. H was a member of the local school board for many years and a member of the board of the Madawaska Valley District High School in the year of that school's opening.

He was also instrumental in organizing the Killaloe branch of the Lions Club, of which he was charter president.

In 1929 J. G. Kuehl, Mac's father, began a business that saw Mac involved as a youngster. He grew up working in the business and was active in it until this past January. In the years between, he saw the business grow and flourish and only several years ago he was at the helm when Kuehl's M&M almost doubled in size.

As a retail merchant, Mr. Kuehl also served on the executive of the Retail Merchants Association, on both the Ontario and Canadian organizations. He served two terms as president f the Ontario Retail Merchants Association.

He was very active in carious church and charitable organizations including the Canadian National Institute of the Blind.

He is survived by his wife <living> and by daughters <living> of Ottawa, and <living>, of Manitoba.

Mr. Kuehl is also survived by a brother, Orville, of Killaloe.

Left to mourn him are four grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
