Obituary Knoxville Express, 14 November 1957 Many Answer Grim Reapers Dreaded Summons. Recent Deaths Here and Elsewhere that will Interest Marion County People May Belle Bishop, daughter of John Q. and Amanda E. Bishop, was born August 7, 1874 on the old Bishop homestead, five miles west of Knoxville, in the Lincoln community, and died at the Gardner nursing home in Chariton, October 25, 1957, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 18 days. She grew to womanhood in the Lincoln Community and attended school, Sunday school and church services in that community. After teaching in the rural schools of Marion county for four years she was united in marriage to Ira D. Anderson of Newbern, on September 5, 1895. They established their home on the farm and she continued teaching for many years. Two sons were born to this union, Nile, who died in infancy and Dale, now living near Sidney, Nebr. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, a brother and four sisters, Bige, of Knoxville, Glen and Lula living on the old home place. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 29 from the Bybee & Davis funeral chapel, conducted by Rev. C. D. Fales. Interment was in Graceland cemetery. |
