May had completed the 8th grade,[3] and she could read and write.[2]

On 16 March 1897 in McPherson co., Kansas, a license was issued for Andrew Jacobson (age 30) and May Spilman (age 28), both of Roxbury, Kansas. They were married on the same day by clergyman A.M. Barrett in the city of McPherson. It was recorded in the U.S. census of 1910 that this was the first marriage for each of them.

Death and Probate

May Jacobson died on 5 April 1948 and was buried in the Valley View Memorial Cemetery near Roxbury in Gypsum Creek twp., McPherson co., Kansas.[1]
