    According to Peter Smith, Rueben and Tillie were killed in a car accident. They pulled to the side of the road during a snowstorm and were hit. However, their obituaries confirm they died several years apart. Since Tillie died in January, I assume she was the victim of the accident.

    BRISCOE - The death of Reuben Francis Briscoe age 83 years of 309 - 25th Street W., Saskatoon occurred in hospital on September 2, 1975. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 1:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Saskatoon Funeral Home conducted by Rev. William Wood. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Albert Horner (Joy) of Blaine Lake, 5 grandchildren: <names of living individuals have been removed> 4 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was predeceased by his wife Tillie in 1971. Mr. Briscoe was born in Renfrew, Ontario ad in 1905 came west to settle near Saskatoon. In 1910he moved to Wiseton where he homesteaded and continued to farm until 1925 when he came to Saskatoon. He had been employed by the firm of R.B. McLeod and later was with the City of Saskatoon. At the time of his retirement he was Superintendent of Works. Following his retirement he worked with the Western Development Museum and later supervised the building of the North Battleford Museum, where the main street was named in his honour. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery,(courtesy parking south of the Chapel on 4th Avenue at 25th street.)

    BRISCOE - The death of Mrs. Matilda Augusta (Tillie) Briscoe age 77years, of 309 25th Street W., Saskatoon occurred in a local hospital on January 3rd, 1971. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January8th at 1:30 p.m. from First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. William R. Wood. (In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saskatchewan Heart Fund, 511 Canada Building, Saskatoon would be appreciated). Surviving are: her loving husband, Reuben; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Horner (Joy) of Blaine Lake; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters: Mrs. J. G. Kuehl and Mrs. Samuel Henderson, both of Killaloe, Ontario. She was predeceased by a son, Ted in 1942. Mrs. Briscoe was born in Killaloe and came west to Wiseton where she homesteaded with her husband and continued to farm in the district until 1926. For the past 44 years she had resided in Saskatoon. Mrs. Briscoe was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in Mission Circles. She had been a member of the Walter Murray Chapter of I.O.D.E. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Saskatoon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
