March 5, 1794 - Removal Order

"Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Norton Bavant in the County of Wilts, have complained to us, whose Hands and Seals are hereunto set, two of his Majestys Justices of the Peace in and for the same County, (whereof one is of the Quorum) that William Starr Mary his Wife Ann his Daughter aged about Eleven Years Benjamin his Son Aged about Three Years and an half William another son Aged about Two years and a Quarter John another son Aged about One year & five Months & Mary another daughter Aged about Nine Months have come to inhabit and reside in the said parish of Norton Bavant not having gained a legal settlement, there, and are likely to become chargeable to the parish aforesaid; WE, the said Justices of the Peace, upon due Examination thereof, as well upon the Oath of the said William Starr as otherwise, do adjudge the said complaint and Premises to be true, and that the said William Starr Mary his Wife and Ann Benjamin William John and Mary his Children and are likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of Norton Bavant and that their last legal Place of Settlement is in the Parish of Nunny in the County of Somerset - WE do therefore (according to the Statutes) hereby authorize and require you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Norton Bavant aforesaid, or either of you, forthwith to remove and convey the said William Starr, Mary his Wife and Ann Benjamin William John and Mary his Children from your said Parish of Norton Bavant to the Parish of Nunny aforesaid, and them deliver to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the same Parish, or to some or one of them, together with this our Precept or Order, or a true Copy of the same; who are hereby also commanded to receive them into their said Parish of Nunny and there provide for them as the Law directs. Herein fail not at your Perils. Given under our Hands and Seals the Fifth Day of March in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety four.
