Mary Ann Vincent was born in 1842 and baptised on 6th August 1842 at Winsham in Somerset, daughter of Elizabeth Vincent, formerly Hutchings, and her husband Thomas Vincent, an agricultural labourer. She was baptised privately, which is often a sign that she was not expected to live. Sadly she did indeed die as a baby; her death was registered in the same quarter as a her birth. Her mother also appears to have died at about the same time.
