She and Samuel Wear had six children before she died about 1801 (according to the "Autobiogaphy and Reminiscences of Nathan Wilkinson". Samuel Wear than married Mary Gillian, daughter of John and Margaret Gillian. This would seem to conflict with the statement found in "East Tennessee Pioneers", by Edwards and Roberts, that, "Col. samuel Wear married 1st Mary Thompson on Nov. 2, 1779 in Rockbridge Co., Va. Her mother's written consent and the marriage bond are on file there." (p. 17).
