  2. Source:Rich, Irma A. Kendall Genealogy, p. 25, says Samuel Kendall m. 1 May 1788 in Athol to Molly Taylor, d/o Rufus and Mary (Goddard) Taylor. Meanwhile
Find A Grave for Asa Goddard says "On 18 August 1801 at Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Asa married Mary Tyler, daughter of Rufus Tyler." A record of the first marriage is found, but only gives the name of the bride. No record of the second marriage has been found but it fits with the births of children.

There is no Rufus Tyler, but several children are born in Athol to a Rufus and Mary Taylor including a daughter Mary in 1766. The age of Asa Goddard's widow calculates to a birth in 1766. However, the death record of Mary gives no information about her birthplace or parents.

The death records of two children of Samuel Kendal give their mother's birthplace as Stow (Samuel (No. 5 and Mary Conant No. 22), and Samuel's record names her as Mary Taylor. A Molly Taylor in Stow is born to Abel Taylor and Martha Conant in 1766.

No conclusive evidence either way has been found, but it seems most likely Irma Rich was assuming Samuel Kendall's wife was born in Athol, and so her identification appears questionable.
