    Mary Studebaker was the first of nine children born to Daniel Miller Studebaker, Sr. and Mrs. Nancy Hoover Wyland. She was born on October 11, 1817 in Montgomery Co, OH. She married Nehemiah Williams August 2, 1837 in Elkhart Co, IN. They moved to Marshall Co, IN where their children were born. In 1855, they moved to Iowa. By 1860, they were living in Brown Co, KS. Sometime between 1865 and 1870, they moved to Holton, Jackson Co, KS. By 1875, Nehemiah and Mary were living in Wetmore, Nemaha Co, KS. The 1880 census showed Nehemiah and Mary were living with son Abraham and his family in Jackson Co, KS. Nehemiah died on February 14, 1885. After this, Mary made her home alternately with two of her daughters, Mrs. John H. Campbell (Sarah) and Mrs. Jacob Wolfley (Nancy). Mary died of heart disease on Tuesday November 15, 1892 at the home of her son-in-law, Jacob Wolfley, near Ontario, KS. She was buried on Thursday. Funeral services were held at the Straight Creek Schoolhouse.
