    'HERNER, SAMUEL [son of Frederick Philip and Nancy (DeMoss) Herner], was born in Waterloo County, Ontario, October 10th, 1809. On September 10th, 1834, he was married to Mary, daughter of Isaac and Esther (Bechtel) Shantz. She was born January 14th, 1814, and died in Livingston County, Illinois, U. S., December 22nd, 1875. Shortly after their marriage they moved on a farm near Manheim, Ontario, where they resided until October, 1866, when they moved to Cullom, Livingston County, Illinois, where he died January 18th, 1882.
