Personal History

Mary Peacock, only daughter of Samuel Peacock and Mary Kittredg,[2] was born 19 March 1722/3, in Billerica, Province of Massachusetts Bay.[1][2] She died 15 February 1764, in Dracut.[3][4]

In 1743 Mary was granted a legacy of £83-15-⅔ from her father's estate to be paid by her brother William.[6]

In her will dated 11 January 1764,[5] Mary Peacock (her + mark) of Dracut, County of Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts Bay in New England, spinster, “being sick and weak in body”, bequeathed to her father-in-law Ephraim Curtice of Dracut her land in the township of Woodstock and all of her bonds and notes for money “for providing for me in my long time of sickness and to defray the expensive charge he hath ben at in providing doctors for me &c.” She bequeathed to her mother Mary Curtice all of her apparel and clothes. She appointed her father-in-law to be her sole executor. The will was presented to the probate court of Middlesex Co. on 19 March 1764 by her named executor and proved by the oaths of Ephraim Curtis Jr. and Thomas Hovey. As executor, Ephraim Curtis, yeoman, along with Ephraim Curtis Jr., husbandman, and Thomas Hovey, gentleman, all of Dracut, signed a bond in the amount of £100.
