Facts and Events
Name Mary Newborn
Gender Female
Christening[1] 25 Dec 1791 Barnack, Northamptonshire, England

Mary Newborn was baptised with her sister Ella on Christmas Day 1791 at Barnack in Northamptonshire, daughters of Edward Newborn and Mary Lambert. Mary has yet to be positively traced after her baptism - there are a couple of Mary Newborn burials which may be her (notably in 1792 and 1798), but with insufficient detail to say which, if either, is her.[2]

  2. Some online trees have linked this Mary to a Mary Newborn who was married in the nearby parish of Ufford in 1816 to a Thomas Popple. However, one of the witnesses to that marriage was a William Newborn, and there was no obvious William Newborn closely related to the Mary baptised in Barnack in 1791. However, there was a Mary Newborn baptised at nearby Bainton in 1789, who did have a brother called William, who is therefore more likely to have been the one who married Thomas Popple.
