Mary Lawrence was Piece Poole's first wife.

Research by Anthony Maitland has stated Mary's maiden name to possibly be "Lawrence", based on there being a "Lawrence Poole" entered in the Hempstead Town records, stating that Lawrence Poole was an ensign in a military company in Hempstead in 1746. An ensign would have been not over 16 years of age, making his birth about 1730, and as there was no other Poole in Hempstead in that year, he was probably a son of Pierce and Mary Poole. The name Lawrence suggests that Pierce Poole's wife was a Lawrence, of the large Lawrence family in Hempstead, but I (Anthony Maitland report) cannot trace her in the Lawrence genealogies.
