Terry James, When refering to John Blair Bolling III, 1737-1800, information indicates he married Thomas Jefferson's sister, Mary Jefferson, 1741-1817. Source records are the Diary of Colonel William Bolling (1809 notes.) The Register of St. James Northam Parish. Tuckahoe and the Tuckahoe Randolphs, by Jefferson Randolph Anderson. The Family of William and Elizabeth Bolling Robertson of Richmond, Va. 1585-1981, by Robertson and Patton - 1981. Virginia Families, as reported in the VHS magazines. Thomas Jefferson A Biography by Helen Schachner. However, I'm well aware of other records showing a different name such as "Old Isaac," a Jefferson slave being quoted as saying, "Mr. Jefferson's sister Polly married old Ned Bolling of Chesterfield, about ten miles from Petersburg." I cannot say who Isaac was being quoted as speaking of, having no Ned Bolling, yet, on my record. However, there you have my reasons for saying John Bolling, married Mary Jefferson, the sister of the president. With any official record to the contrary, I will be happy to make a correction. All of my record on this marriage is of secondary stuff.

Mr. Jefferson's sister Martha Jefferson, 1746-1811 married Dabney Carr, 1743-1773 on July 20, 1765. Martha's burial in the Monticello Graveyard, as reported by the Monticello Association, shows the name, Carr, Martha Jefferson (1746-1811.)
