    SCARBRO — Mary M. Hartwell Franklin, 64, of Rt. 1, died on Monday, March 26, 2007, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill.

    Born Oct. 25, 1942, at Powellton, W.Va., she was the daughter of Mary Edwards Hartwell of Hilltop, and the late William Hartwell.

    Mrs. Franklin attended the Living Word Church at Mossy, and Life Bridge Assembly of God in Oak Hill. She was a homemaker.

    A sister, Shirley Ann Kurpel, preceded her in death.

    Survivors include her husband, Elmer David Franklin; two sons, William David Franklin and wife, Bonnie Jean, of Bluefield, W.Va., and Daniel Lee Franklin and wife, Debbie Lynn, of Fayetteville; four daughters, Ruth Lavonne Crouse and husband, Boyd Wayne, of Scarbro, Barbara Ann Smith of Oak Hill, Melinda Gail Franklin of Hilltop, and Elizabeth Michelle Lawrence and husband, Billy Ray, of White Oak; a brother, Kenneth Hartwell of Cleveland, Ohio; three sisters, Margaret Grindstaff of Mullens, Della Marie Blake of Powellton, and Nancy Lea Compton of Scarbro; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

    Service will be noon Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Paul Basham and the Rev. Joe Hoggard officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.

    Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Oak Hill.
