Will Abstract

Will of Mary "Glass" Vance
In the name of God Amen. I Mary Vance of the County of Oldham and State of Kentucky being of feeble body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my Last will and testament in words and figures following to wit.
1st: I will and bequeath to my Nephew Samuel D. Vance of Indiana and my Nephew Robert K. White of Kentucky my farm lying on the Waters of Harrod Creek containing sixty acres in trust for the sale and separate use of my Daughter Ruth G. Bowen for and during her natural life.
2nd: I will and bequeath to my Nephew Samuel D. Vance of Indiana and my Nephew Robert White of Kentucky, my Negro Woman Milly and her three children Named Lucy, Patsy and Henry with their future increase in trust for the Sale and Separate Use of my daughter Ruth G. Bowen for and during her natural life.
3rd: I will and bequeath to my Nephew Samuel D. Vance of Indiana and my Nephew Robert K. White of Kentucky after paying my just debts the balance of my personal estate of any kind in trust for the sole use and benefit of my daughter Ruth G. Bown.
4th: I will and bequeath to son John G. Vance the some of one dollar.
5th: It is my will and desire that after the death of my daughter Ruth G. Bowen the property herein devised both real and personal and mixed for the use of My Daughter Ruth G. Bowen shall be held in trust by my said Nephew Samuel D. Vance and Robert K. White for the use of My Grand daughters Sarah Ann Bowen, Mary Vance Bowen and Martha Matilda Bowen and their heirs lawfully begotten of their bodies.
6th: It is my will and desire that the trustees herein named or their Survivor or Survivors of them; may if they think it expedient, after the death of My daughter Ruth G. Bowen, sell all the property or any part thereof which is herein devised and divide the proceeds arising therefrom equally amongst the said, Sarah and Mary Vance and Martha M. Bowen.
7th: It is the intention in making the devises herein contained for the use of my daughter Ruth G. Bowen to exclude her husband Thomas Bowen from any right legal or equitable therein and I do declare the devises herein Trust for the benefit of the said Ruth G. Bowen be held by the Trustees in Trust for the Separate use of the said Ruth G. Bowen exclusive of the control debts or liabilities of the said Thomas Bowen in any way whatever. 8th and lastly: I do hereby appoint my friend Issac Smith, Jr. Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills or testaments by me heretofore made and do request the County Court not to require Security of him or to have ant appraisement of my estate. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 27th Day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty five.

Kentucky Set: At a County Court held for Oldham County on the 17th day of August 1835. This Writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mary Vance deceased was produced in Court and proven to be Such by the Oaths of Lamach Wilhoite and William R. Vance, two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. Which is done accordingly.
