Mrs. Mary Willie Fleshood Rawlings, age 97, of Lawrenceville, Va., died October 18, 2008 at Johnston-Willis Hospital, Richmond, Va., after a brief illness. The widow of R. Camp Rawlings Sr., she is survived by their two sons, Richard C. Rawlings Jr. and wife, Weezie, of Lawrenceville and Jerry Lee Rawlings and wife, Gray, of Richmond; and a daughter, Mary Sidney Thomasson and husband, Claiborne, of Richmond; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Born March 28, 1911 in Dolphin, Va., she was the last survivor of the eight children of F. Lee and Mary Parrish Fleshood . Affectionately known to family and friends as Mamie, she was a lifelong member of the Lawrenceville Baptist Church, where for many years, she was a soloist with the church choir. She was a retired secretary with the Brunswick County School Board. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, at Oakwood Cemetery in Lawrenceville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lawrenceville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 64, Lawrenceville, Va. 23868. Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
