    "The Steubenville Gazette of Saturday, says:
    Mrs. Thomas Nixon, one of the most widely known and esteemed residents of the country, died at the home on the Richmond road on Friday, July 4, 1902 after several weeks' illness, aged seventy-nine years. She had lived in the vcinity(sic) nearly all her life and was beloved for her many noble qualities and was known throughout the countryside as "Mother Nixon." She was a devoted wife and mother whose home was her alter, and her children today arise and call her blessed, and her husband also praiseth her. Besides the husband she leaves the following children who are all filling honorable positions in life: Isaac, of Colorado; Mrs. F. Miner, Richmand; Dr. G. C. Nixon, Youngstown; A.J. Nixon, Richmond; Mrs. Fredonia Cunningham, Wintersville; Albert (sic - Elbert), of Kansas, Frank, of Tacoma, and Bailey of Pittsburg."
