    From Brownson, Lydia B. (Phinney) and Maclean W. McLean. "Lt. John1 and Elizabeth (Freeman) Ellis of Sandwich, Mass." in NEHGR:
    * p. 119:262 - Lt. Matthias Ellis m. abt. 1678/9 Mercy2 Nye, who died after 13 Nov 1744 and before 7 Nov 1749 (Matthias d. 30 Aug 1748).
    * p. 119:267 - Manoah Ellis m. abt. 1679 Mary ---. "It has been claimed that she was Mary3 Burges, daughter of John2 and Mary1 (Worden) Burgess of Sandwich, who is said to have married an Ellis. Perhaps some reader can produce evidence to support the hypothesis that Manoah2 Ellis' wife was this Mary Burges. We have found neither probate nor gravestone records of either Manoah or his wife."
