This Molly is assigned as a wife to the father Alpheus. She could just as easily have married the son, except for the wording of the father's will. Further research is needed to clarify her relationship to the Chapman family.

Phineas Bill (Joshua, Philip, John) was born 3 Sep 1720 in Groton, New London Co., Connecticut. He died Feb 1780 in Ledyard, New London Co., Connecticut. Phineas married Mehitabel Woodworth. Mehitabel died Jul 1813 in Ledyard, New London Co., Connecticut.

He resided in the southwestern portion of the now town of Ledyard, about equal distant from the village of Unionville, so called, and Allyn's Point, in said town. Indeed the exact place of residence has been established, and must have been in what is now, and has been for the last century, it kown to the neighboring inhabitants as the "Phineas Bill House." He was a cooper by trade, and an industrious and honorable man, and though in humble circumstances, enjoyed the respect and confidence of his neighbors. He died of cancer, in the family of his eldest son, Phineas, in Feb 1780, at the age of 60 years.

At a Probate Court held at Stonington, Dec. 25, 1784, his widow Mehitabel was allowed 18 pounds out of his estate. She survived him many years dying in Groton (Ledyard), July 1813, age 90, and was buried by the side of her husband. To determine their place of burial, we have caused searches to be made in the various burial-places in that locality, without success.

Mehitabel married William Spink. William was born in Colchester, New London Co., Connecticut. Mary Bill was born after 1751 in Groton, New London Co., Connecticut. Mary married (1) Richard Dayton. Richard was born in New London, New London Co., Connecticut. Mary also married (2) Alpheus Chapman. Alpheus was born in Montville, New London Co., Connecticut.
