ALT birth dates: The DAR records indicate Martin Hughes was born 1794; SAR Membership Application #98980 records Martin's birth date was 25 Sep 1794; SAR Membership Application #97093 records a birth date of 25 Sep 1792; the 1850 census indicates abt 1796; the 1860 indicates abt 1792 and the well researched website by Kurt Cook says 25 Sep 1800.

Jonathan's pension papers said he removed "to Greenbrier County VA in middle of January 1792 until he removed in 1808 to Harrison County, Virginia." It is assumed Martin was born while the family was still in Greenbrier County. A timeline of his parent's various locations, based on Jonathan's pension application is available.
