Ira Winch was her 4th and last husband. She met him when he came to dine in a restaurant where she was working. Martha's first marriage was an arranged marriage. She came to Oklahoma with her husband, Abner McCollum, when they ran for land in the Oklahoma land rush. Abner worked for the railroad and was killed when their daughter was a year old. She told of an incident when alone on her homestead, holding her daughter in one arm and a rifle in the other, she protected her home from Indians. She later moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma, marrying a Mr. Quick and a Mr. Webster. One of the husbands died, the other she divorced. The one she divorced came to Guthrie and kidnapped their son. Martha didn't see this son for many years. She loved needlework & quilting, making quilts for her children and many grandchildren.
