CHAMPION - Martha J. Monus, 79, of Champion, died at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1931, in Warren, the daughter of the late Harry and Lela Wright Thompson.
Martha was a 1949 graduate of Champion High School.
Mrs. Monus worked various places. She worked for the Trumbull County Building Inspection Office, the McAllister's Dairy as a bookkeeper, and she was CEO of the Monus and Brannon Grainfed Beef.
Her greatest accomplishment was being a homemaker and being very devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Martha was a member of the Champion Christian Church, where she enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Some of her hobbies included gardening, especially roses, playing cards, bowling and Cleveland Indians baseball.
Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Monus, whom she married Sept. 15, 1949; three children, Linda (Don) Brannon of Flagler Beach, Fla., C. Michael (Kris) Monus of Toledo and Mark (Diane) Monus of Oro Valley, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Tim) Ryan, Melanie (Joe) Thompson, Lauren (Kyle) McAllister, and Ashley, Taylor, Kayla and Kyle Monus; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lela (Robert) Bishop of Champion.
Other than her parents, Martha was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Thompson, and three sisters, June Warren, Mildred Elledge and Eileen Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Champion Christian Church, where the Rev. Ken E. Hopkins Jr. will celebrate her life.
Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
