I believe it was in 1947 that the house we rented on Tillman Ave. was sold & we had to move. We then rented a 2 room apt. on W. First St. in south Danville. I came home one day to find Mom had moved in with a family to baby sit & do light chores. The lady of the house used to live next door to us on Cleaveland St. when I was in the 2nd. grade of school. She was a friend of my sister, Ethel, & lived on ether Iowa or Ohio St. in what is known as Oaklawn in Danville.

  18. Renee Henry. Interview with Gloria Fauver. (10/12/2000(?)).

When Sis was working at G.E. she lived at Fair Oaks with her mother, Etta. She got $49/week. Mom was sick. Sis couldn't do anything right, she wasn't supposed to bother anything and Mom couldn't cook. Sis wrote to Ona and Dean, not wanting to bother Lyonard and Ethel. She asked for $5/month to help with the rent. Mom got angry when Ona sent $20.
