Her tombstone at St. Mary's Chapel gives her name as M. Eugenia Carter Showalter Estate records of her mother refer to her as M. E. Carter, and a chancery suit calls her Marietta E. Carter, and estate settlement of her father (1849) calls her M. Eugenia Basye, wife of Thomas Basye.

Her marriage to SHOWALTER is not of record in Lancaster County. There is no tombstone for him in Lancaster. She is buried in the Mitchell/Carter plot at St. Mary's White Chapel.

1850 census, as wife of Thomas Basye, she has no children and her age is given as 22.
