Marian Damon was born in her grandmother's house in Butler, Ohio on Christmas Day, 1907. She had just turned 22 when she married Carl. Marian was the oldest of three children. Her bother Robert was born in 1910 and her brother Richard or “Dick” four years later. By the time Marian was three Clyde had found work in Cleveland and the family was living on East Quincy Street in 1910. But within a few years the family was back to Loudonville where Clyde was one of the first employees of the newly formed FLXIBLE Company. Marian was the oldest of three children, having younger brothers Robert and Richard.

In October 1922, at the age of only 45 Clyde Painter died leaving Lottie with three young children; Marian 15, Bob 12, and Richard 8. But Lottie son met and married John Janda.

Marian attended Loudonville High School where she was active in Drama and other events. She was outgoing and loved her share of fun as well. She appears frequently in the social column of the Loudonville paper.
