Taken from the pension application files of Reuben Warner General Affidavit from Samuel Clark on the pension request of Mariah Warner. State of Kentucky, County of Bath In the matter of claim for pension Mariah L. Warner widow of Rueben Y. Warner Personally came before me, a County Court Clerk in and for aforesaid County and State, Samuel Clark, age 26 years, citizen of the town of Owingsville, County of Bath, State of Kentucky, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: I have been personally and and or intimately aquainted with Reuben Y. Warner the soldier that this claim is made on and Mariah L. Warner the maiden and the applicant in this action. I know that either of them was ever married until they was married to each other. I know that she remains his widow and that she never has remarried. She is a very poare (spelling) woman and that she is the oner of a bout forty acres of poare land worth a bout ten dollars a acre and that there is a morgage on the land for a bout the worth of the land. She has a horse worth a bout fifty dollars and two cows worth a bout fifteen dollars each which is and the property that she owns. She has no (can't read word) and that she depends on the charity of the neighbors for part of her support. She is a meekley woman and is not abil to labor for her support.
