Probably unmarried as her funeral entry lists her parents, not a husband.

In the 1880 census, there is a Mary Schmidt, tailoress, age 21, living with a mother and widow Elizabeth Schmidt at the house of George GUCK (T9-0830, page 106B). Her father's birthplace is listed as "Baden" (matching our Leonhard Schmidt's birthplace). This is the same census page where Regina Fassnacht is living with her daughters (a few entries up the same page). And we know that they live on the same street in 1890. But where is brother Henry? Can't find him in the 1880 census (unless he's the Henry Schmidt in prison that year).

While her mother is buried at Concordia, it looks like Maria did not attend the same church her mother did (St. Peters), as Maria's burial record is with St. Paul/St. Marks. (But Wayne Rettke of the Concordia Cemetery Association has confirmed that Maria is buried with her mother and brother.)
