 Marguerite L. Cockley, 93, of Colerain, Ohio, formerly of Meyersdale, died April 5, 2000, at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.  She was born Dec. 9, 1906, in St. Paul, Elk Lick Twp., a daughter of the late Herman G. and Jennie (Kammerer) Lepley. In addition to her parents she was preceded  in death by her husband, Eber K. Cockley, five brothers and a sister. 

Mrs. Cockley Was a member of Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale, Women's Guild, Local, Regional and Synodical President. Member Meyersdale Historical & Genealogical Society. Editor Emeritus Laurel Messenger Member Board of Directors and Secretary Emeritus Board Meyersdale Public Library. The genealogical files were a gift to the Pennsylvania Room at the library in 1999, She was an active lifelong church member and community servant. She gave of her time and talents joyfully. She especially liked public speaking and volunteering in the Library after moving to Meyersdale in 1939 which led to a lifetime as a Librarian. She retired in 1986 at the age of 80. Marguerite and Eber were honored as Citizens of the Year by Meyersdale Rotary Club in 1972. Friends will be received Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leckemby Funeral Home. She will be taken to the St. Paul Wilhelm U.C.C. to lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the time of service with Pastor Bruce Ashlock. Interment, St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Meyersdale Public Library.
