  1. ↑ Was given up for adoption a few months after her mother died. At first she was taken care of by a neighbor lady next door in the country. Later Garfield McNiel (McNeil) and Mabelle (Whiteside) McNiel adopted and raised Marguerite R (Calkins) McNiel. Mabelle died when Marguerite was 12 years old. Garfield remarried Lettie (Frime) Barnes on June 11, 1934 who was widowed.

    Marguerite later resided in Detroit, MI area after being older.

    2 Jun 1941 at the age of 23, she had a son named Thomas L Calkins, father was Lawrence Aversano, they never married. He later moved to Florida to the Homestead FL area and raised a large family.
