Family Tree 1970: Pronounced A' va line It is believed she came from a family who once lived in France. Some say they thought she came from England. But when she and Wilhelm came over they settled in Ohio. This was about 1859 or 1860. When they moved to Missouri is not known. Their children were born around the New Hamburg area. She was a very little and pretty lady. She was 77 years old when she died, probably of old age; no outstanding illness known.

1880 Scott County, Missouri Census: Moreland Township; Eva M. Weidfield lived with her husband and their eight children. The Census states her occupation as keeping house at 50 years of age. She stated her nationality as Bavarian and that both her parents were also Bavarian.

1900 Scott County, Missouri Census: Moreland Township #215: Eva M. Weidfield was living with her son, William and his family. It states she was born in November of 1830 in Germany, where her parents were also born. She was 69 years old, immigrated to the US in 1856, and was not a naturalized citizen. She could not read or write, but could speak English.

St. Lawrence Catholic Church History 1859-1982: Spells Margaretha's maiden name both Oeflin and Offelin. It lists her as being born in Alsace-Lorraine on December 1, 1830 and death as being on April 11, 1908 at the age of 77 years.

Tomb Stone found at New Hamburg, Missouri in the Catholic Cemetery. Inscription in German "Aier ruht infrieden."
