Personal History

Margaret Walln(e), daughter of Nicholas Walln by his wife Jane (Turner), was born 12 11mo. [Jan.] 16[80/1], (Settle MM) in Yorkshire W.R. (later in Lancashire).[1]

Margaret emigrated with the family to Pennsylvania in 1682, leaving from the port of Liverpool and arriving on the Lamb on 22 October 1682.[2]

    “In the yeare 16[80?] & in the 11th month & on the 12th day thereof Jane the wife of Nicolas Wallne boare him a daughter & he called her Margeret.” In the register the year appears to have been originally written “1679”, but was then corrected. The third digit was obviously changed from a 7 to an 8, but the fourth digit is not clear. It probably should have been 1680.

    Note that later in the Neshamina (or Middletown) MM book, her date of birth is stated to be 10 11mo. 1680.
