    Visitation for Margaret VanWerven of Lynden will be 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Mrs. VanWerven, a longtime Whatcom County resident, died at the Christian Health Care Center on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999. She was 98. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday in Monumenta Cemetery, followed by funeral services in Faith Reformed Church at 2 p.m., with the Revs. Marc deWaard and Eric Schulze officiating. Born July 19, 1901, to Albertus and Alice (Groen) Roosendaal in Kampen, The Netherlands, she and her family immigrated to North Dakota in 1913. She married William VanWerven in Litchville, N.D., on May 15, 1920. They moved to Lynden in 1924. He died in 1981. A homemaker, Mrs. VanWerven enjoyed decorating homes that her husband built. She was a member of First Reformed Church, active in Women's Ministries and enjoyed singing in the Lynden Community Center Choir. She is survived by son William VanWerven of Lynden daughters Alice Klein and Hilda DeHaan, both of Lynden, and Dorothy VanWerven of Bellingham sisters Nellie VanderMey of Lynden and Alice Bierlink of Sunnyside 29 grandchildren 34 great-grandchildren six great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by sisters Hilda VanWerven, Mina Roosendaal, Jennie Rietman and Wilma Fullner and brothers Bill, Gerrit, John, Nick, Albert and Carl Roosendaal.
