Facts and Events
Roger married an heiress, Margaret OWLE, some time before 1520. Margaret's mother and both grandmothers were also heiresses, so the wealth and status of the OWLE, CARVER, DAYVILL and KELKE families ended up with Roger HONING. OWLE is a Suffolk surname, but Margaret may have come from Aston in Warwickshire like Roger, for she returned there - to Yardington or Erdington Hall - in her widowhood, and chose to be buried there rather than with her husband in London. Margaret was to live on for a further thirty years after her husband's death in 1541, outliving her eldest son William, finally dieing in the winter of 1571-72. References
