‘Margaret [daughter of Edward and Phebe (Jackson) Fitz Randolph], b. 21 Nov. 1746 [Plainfield, N. J.]; d. in Greenbrook, N. J., 24 Oct. 1812; m. at Woodbridge Meeting, 28 Aug. 1766, Abraham (Abram) Vail, b. in Greenbrook, 22 July 1744, d. in Barnard Township, now North Plainfield, N. J., 8 Sept., 1824. This Abraham Vail was called “Red Abraham” to distinguish him from Abraham Vail who married Margaret Fitz Randolph [daughter of Robert and Catherine (Taylor) Fitz Randolph], who was known as “Black Abraham”.’

  2. She and younger brother Edward were said to have been born in Plainfield, although the family appears to have lived in Woodbridge (her marriage record indicates she was from Middlesex Co.). It could be that the birth was recorded in the Plainfield records, since Plainfield, Rahway and Woodbridge Quakers met together.
