Facts and Events
Some of Margaret Beard's children with Robert Ramsey are named in the will of Thomas Beard (Margaret's Father) in Augusta County, Virginia. Some researchers claim that this Margaret Beard died abt. 1754, prior to Robert Ramsey's migration to Craven County, South Carolina. Clearly Margaret had died prior to the writing of her father's will in 1769.
Robert Ramsey of Beverley Manor, Augusta County, VA married Margaret Beard. They settled in the Beverley Manor by 1742; and removed to Anson County, NC before 18 Aug 1762, which date Robert Ramsey and Margaret of Anson County, NC conveyed to James Henry 340 acres in Beverley Manor, adjacent to Samuel Huston, Robert Alexander, Patrick Hays and William Purris. Robert Ramsey's mother may have been Sarah Ramsey, who was widowed by 1753, the year she conveyed 309 acres adjacent to Robert Ramsey in Beverley Manor to John Fulton. Sarah Ramsey was an early settler in the Beverley Manor, and her land deed there was recorded in Orange County, VA in 1742. Augusta County, VA was not organized until 1745. There is also the question of whether Robert Ramsey was a brother
July 20, 1997 RAMSEY CHEROKEE ANCESTORS I have recently been told by a newly found RAMSEY cousin, that he was told we have Cherokee ancestors in our line. My mother also told me this, but had no information on who this ancestor/ancestors were. My RAMSEY line goes from ROBERT RAMSEY born about 1718 possibly in VA and his wife MARGARET BEARD born about 1739. Margaret's father was believed to have been THOMAS BEARD. Robert and Margaret's son, ALEXANDER RAMSEY was my 4 times Great Grandfather. His son, JAMES RAMSEY was my 3 times Great Grandfather. His son, ROBERT H. RAMSEY was my 2 times Great Grandfather. The migration path for my RAMSEY line goes from Augusta Co., VA to Lancaster and Craven Counties of South Carolina to Hopkins County, Kentucky-- with TN thrown in somewhere along the line--to Wayne and Effingham Counties of Illinois to the Springfield area of Missouri to Yale and Pryor, OK. I am very interested in finding out what Cherokee ancestors I may have and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has information about this! Thanks! Deborah Rupp (housnwoods@@earthlink.net)
