Interment to follow at Shafter Cemetery for Lucille Margaret Aday, 92, who passed away quietly surrounded by family to enter into the arms of Jesus on June 15, 2006. Lucille was born in Cowlington, Oklahoma on July 2, 1913. At the age of 18, Lucille had to take on the role of being a mother to her younger siblings. She married Troy Lester Aday on November 15, 1933. They shared 63 wonderful years of marriage together. After they were married, Troy and Lucille moved to California and began working in the crops. In 1940 they started their home in Shafter. Over the years they farmed 80 acres of cotton and alfalfa. Lucille worked at the cafeteria at Shafter High School for 28 years and retired in 1978. She took pride in making salads and desserts. Former students always remembered her as the cook that made the best flying saucer cookies. Lucille attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Shafter. She was an active member of the choir and served as the food chairman while making sure that food was plentiful for any southern Baptist potluck. Lucille loved the Lord and diligently studied the word of God. If you were a visitor at the Aday home, you were greeted with open arms and left with a full stomach. Lucille would not allow any visitor to leave her home without having something to eat. You always knew you would have a time of good food and fellowship at the Aday home. Lucille enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A devoted Christian family woman, Lucille will be deeply missed by her loving family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara Womack and Patricia Wollenzier; grandchildren, Ron Womack, Elaine Deaton and her husband, John, Terry Moore, Jimmy Moore and Linda, Eric Moore and his wife, Paulina; great-grandchildren, Ryan Womack, Christian Deaton, Katelyn Deaton, Noah and Jacen.
